MIC supports Shima Seiki Italia at Pitti Filati 2025

Yarns for technical and sustainable knitwear: EXTÉ, STR, and ELAN at the heart of the new creative collection

The July 2025 edition of Pitti Immagine Filati, the international event dedicated to knitwear and innovative yarns, featured Shima Seiki Italia among its key players — a global leader in computerized knitting machinery.

On this occasion, MIC reaffirmed its role as a specialized supplier of technical yarns for knitwear, contributing to the development of two experimental garments made with high-performance materials.

MIC – Manifattura Italiana Cucirini, already recognized in the sector for its high-quality sewing, embroidery, and knitting threads, was selected by Shima Seiki for the outstanding compatibility of its yarns with complex manufacturing processes.

In particular, the following yarns were used:

  • EXTÉ, a high-strength elastic thread, ideal for fabrics with recovery and adaptability;
  • STR, an ultra-thin, high-tenacity yarn, perfect for fine knits and lightweight structures;
  • ELAN, a semi-matte, textured, and retractable yarn, chosen for advanced tactile and visual effects.

These yarns helped unlock the full potential of Shima Seiki's new SES-R133-R Advanced i-Plating SV14, capable of producing three-dimensional textures and advanced color combinations.

The collaboration between MIC and Shima Seiki is a tangible example of how innovative yarns and digital knitting technologies can be integrated to promote sustainable textile creativity.
