DENIM
Denim is culture. MIC sewing thread is technology, color, and sustainability.
Denim is more than a fabric—it's a global icon, a symbol of style, durability, and authenticity.
But a well-crafted pair of jeans cannot exist without high-quality seams.
MIC offers a complete range of sewing threads specifically engineered for the denim industry: strong, stable, durable, and capable of maintaining a flawless appearance even after repeated washes and industrial treatments.

MAIN SEAMS AND STITCH TYPES
Description and consumption per stitch type
The thread consumption varies depending on the type of stitch, the number of needles, and the stitch length.
Below is a description of the main stitching types used in jeans.
| Stitch Type | Stitch Class | Thread Consumption (cm per 1 cm of seam) | Number of Needles | Needle Thread / Looper Thread Ratio | Stitch Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 301 | Lockstitch | 2.5 | 1 | 50% / 50% | The most common stitch, formed by the interlocking of two threads: one from the needle and one from a bobbin (lower thread). Symmetrical and reversible. Produces tight and strong seams. |
| 304 | Zigzag Lockstitch | 7.0 | 1 | 50% / 50% | Identical to stitch 301, but the needle makes a lateral oscillating movement creating a zigzag stitch. Used where more seam elasticity is required. |
| 401 | Double Chainstitch | 6.0 | 1 | 25% / 75% | Formed by interlooping two threads from external cones: one from the needle and one from a flag looper. Offers greater productivity and elasticity than stitch 301. |
| 406 | Coverseam | 18.0 | 2 | 30% / 70% | Derived from stitch 401, it uses two needle threads and one looper thread to form a cover seam. |
| 504 | 3-Thread Overedge / Overlock | 14.0 | 1 | 20% / 80% | Formed with three threads: one needle thread and two from loopers. Provides excellent extensibility and resists fraying. Used to prevent edge fraying and to join two or more fabric layers. |
| 516 | 5-Thread Safety Overlock | 20.0 | 2 | 20% / 80% | A combined stitch that joins a 401 chainstitch with a 3-thread 504 overedge stitch. The 401 handles the load while the 504 covers the edge and provides added security. |
