4S CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT
4Sustainability®
The path to sustainability is one of continuous improvement of production processes, raw materials and social awareness. The stimulus of the market and our vision have led us to seek solutions for a more responsible use of chemical agents. For this reason it is necessary to address the risk of toxic and harmful chemicals in a systematic way, integrating into the production cycles, activities and controls aimed at gradually eliminating their presence. Following this path also means contributing to the achievement of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda (SDGs), with the clear aim of protecting man and the environment.
It is precisely for this reason that MIC has signed up to the 4sustainability® roadmap - the Process Factory sustainable fashion brand (www.processfactory.it), undertaking a process of implementing the protocols it proposes.
The Chemical Management 4sustainability® protocol allows us to work in particular on some specific SDGs - Sustainable Development Goals, guaranteeing a better quality of waste water from our production and improving partnerships with specialised companies, which become one of our strengths.
With these objectives in mind, we have built a structured path for the adoption of the Chemical Management 4sustainability® protocol, which implements the MRLS ZDHC (www.roadmaptozero.com) with a structured method and periodically verifies the level of application in a transparent manner.
THE CURRENT PROJECT INCLUDES SEVERAL STEPS TO ENSURE A SOLID STRUCTURE,
HERE ARE SOME OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT
- Appointment of an internal chemical manager with a system management team
- The mapping and qualification of our supply chain, with the identification of chemical risk categories
- Application of the PRSL (product restricted Substances List) 4sustainability® for supplier qualification
- Mapping and qualification of our chemical supply chain
- Implementation of the MRSL ZDHC (manufacturing Restricted Substances List), for internal and outsourced chemical processes
- Application of the ZDHC Conformance Guidance for Chemical Inventory and Chemical Qualification
- Involvement of our suppliers in common objectives through assessment and training activities.
- Traceability derived from the collection of all relevant information
- Identification of a plan for elimination and continuous improvement
- Annual 4sustainability audit and release of a Summary Report with Chemical management KPIs
