ECO-FRIENDLY YARNS

The range of yarns with certified environmental characteristics by Manifattura Italiana Cucirini has been developed to meet the evolving needs of the fashion and textile industry. The product portfolio includes yarns:

• made from GOTS certified organic fibres
• containing GRS certified recycled materials,
• derived from wood-based cellulosic fibres, LYOCELL
• manufactured with polymers designed for accelerated biodegradation under specific environmental conditions.

Environmental claims refer exclusively to products for which certifications or laboratory tests have been obtained, as detailed in the respective technical data sheets.

ORGANIC COTTON
GOTS Certified organic cotton sewing thread

First in the world to certify GOTS by ICEA a sewing thread made of organic cotton fibre, in 2008, MIC obtained certification through ICEA for BIO-COTTON.

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification guarantees, for certified products:

• the presence of fibres from certified organic agriculture;
• traceability throughout the certified supply chain;
• compliance with environmental and social criteria defined by the standard;
• controlled use of chemical inputs.

BIO-COTTON

This is the sewing thread composed of 100% organic cotton certified GOTS TX-241, available in 3 different labels.

Dyeing processes comply with the chemical input requirements defined by the GOTS standard for certified products.

LYOCELL FROM WOOD FIBRE 
The 100% Tencel™ yarn by Lenzing

Eucalyptus forests produce a soft, cotton-like fibre with excellent sewability and strength, and excellent elongation properties.

The cellulosic fibre absorbs colour in a similar way to cotton, making it ideal for ready-to-dye Tencel™ and cotton garments.

MEGAFLEX

Available in different thicknesses and developed for the world of denim and natural fibre clothing, MEGAFLEX is the yarn derived from the regeneration of wood fibre.

Designed for garment dyeing in cotton and cellulosic fibres, it can help reduce the use of synthetic fibers in specific applications, thanks to the cellulosic nature of the fiber.

ENHANCED BIODEGRADABILITY NYLON
The biodegradable yarn in Polyamide 6.6

LEAF and LEAF TEX are yarns made from modified Polyamide 6.6 designed to enhance biodegradation in anaerobic environments (such as landfill conditions), tested according to ASTM D5511.

The polymer technology was developed by Solvay (formerly Rhodia).

Laboratory testing under ASTM D5511 indicates significantly faster degradation compared to conventional polyamide under controlled anaerobic conditions.

LEAF

Twisted yarn composed of a modified polyamide polymer with accelerated biodegradability, tested by the international standard ASTM D5511.

Resistant and elastic, it is available in several labels.

LEAF TEX

Textured polyamide filament with accelerated biodegradability tested according to the international standard ASTM D5511.

Available in two thicknesses, it is extraordinarily gentle on the skin.

RECYCLED POLYESTER
Our GRS certified yarns

MIC's GRS range consists of yarns made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester, certified GRS TX-241.

Once the waste PET packaging is collected, it is shredded and transformed into small agglomerates called 'chips', which will be used by spinning mills to produce new raw fibre, which is then processed and twisted to create new recycled polyester yarn.

The GRS certification tracks the recycled polyester supply chain to ensure the recycled content in the intermends and finished garments.

KUMA GRS

The 100% recycled poly-poly: a continuous filament coated polyester chopped fibre.

The most versatile recycled yarn in MIC range for any textile production supporting a circular economy.

CORD GRS

The high tenacity recycled yarn for all applications requiring a strong hold.

Designed in the thickest counts for footwear and leather goods, it is also suitable for clothing and jeans.

BRAVO GRS

The spun polyester in 100% recycled fibre from post-consumer material.

Available in standard cotton labels, it enables the yarn used to date to be replaced by one made from certified raw material.

ELAN GRS

Comfort is recycled with this voluminous texturized yarn, ideal for sewing and knitting.

From recycled raw material from post-consumer PET, excellent in combination with kuma grs.

MICRO GRS

The recycled microfibre yarn for a comfortable and high-performance fit.
