Manifattura Italiana Cucirini's range of eco-friendly yarns was created to meet the ever-changing needs of the fashion world.
Biodegradable, made from post-consumer recycled material or from controlled organic cultivation, each yarn in the eco-friendly line by MIC is the result of technical innovation, research into new quality raw materials and supply chain certifications at the service of a circular economy, respectful of man and the environment.
Social and environmental responsibility hanging by a thread... of cotton
First in the world to certify GOTS by ICEA a sewing thread made of organic cotton fibre, MIC already showed a special attention to the world of eco-sustainable yarns in 2008.
The GOTS certification for cotton, guarantees the content of natural fibres derived from organic cultivation in both intermediate and finished products, allowing traceability along the entire supply chain, excluding substances harmful to man and the environment, controlling the use of water and ensuring social criteria in respect of workers' rights.
This is the sewing thread composed of 100% organic cotton certified GOTS 2008-060, available in 3 different labels.
Available in three different labels, it is dyed with dyes approved by the certifying body for a totally reliable product.
LYOCELL FROM WOOD FIBRE
The 100% Tencel™ yarn by Lenzing
Eucalyptus forests produce a soft, cotton-like fibre with excellent sewability and strength, and excellent elongation properties.
The cellulosic fibre absorbs colour in a similar way to cotton, making it ideal for ready-to-dye Tencel™ and cotton garments.
Available in different thicknesses and developed for the world of eco-friendly denim and natural fibre clothing, MEGAFLEX is the yarn derived from the regeneration of wood fibre.
Designed for garment dyeing in cotton and cellulosic fibres, it is a natural and biodegradable alternative for sustainable textile production.
The biodegradable yarn in Polyamide 6.6
In response to the problem of textile waste and to make fashion truly eco-sustainable, LEAF and LEAF TEX are the MIC yarns with accelerated biodegradability.
The innovation of the polymer developed by the Rhodia-Solvay group, is to degrade in about 5 years in an anaerobic environment, tested according to the international standard ASTM D5511, against other synthetic fibres that take decades for the same process.
Twisted yarn composed of a modified polyamide polymer with accelerated biodegradability, tested by the international standard ASTM D5511.
Resistant and elastic, it is available in several labels.
Textured polyamide filament with accelerated biodegradability, it degrades 10 times faster than traditional nylon, tested according to the international standard ASTM D5511.
Available in two thicknesses, it is extraordinarily gentle on the skin.
Our GRS certified yarns
MIC's GRS range consists of yarns made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester, certified GRS 2019-210.
Once the waste PET packaging (mainly plastic bottles and caps) is collected, it is shredded and transformed into small agglomerates called 'chips', which will be used by spinning mills to produce new raw fibre, which is then processed and twisted to create new recycled polyester yarn.
The GRS certification tracks the recycled polyester supply chain to ensure the recycled content in the intermends and finished garments.
The 100% recycled poly-poly: a continuous filament coated polyester chopped fibre.
The most versatile recycled yarn for any textile production supporting a circular economy.
The high tenacity recycled yarn for all applications requiring a strong hold.
Designed in the thickest counts for sustainable footwear and leather goods, it is also suitable for clothing and jeans.
The spun polyester in 100% recycled fibre from post-consumer material.
Available in standard cotton labels, it enables the yarn used to date to be replaced by one made from certified raw material.
Comfort is recycled with this voluminous texturized yarn, ideal for sewing and knitting.
From recycled raw material from post-consumer PET, excellent in combination with kuma grs.
The recycled microfibre yarn for a comfortable and high-performance fit.
Volume, resistance and softness are the characteristics of this yarn for the sports and knitting world.
