89th EDITION

The 89th edition of Pitti Immagine Filati was held in a positive climate, triggered by a new demand for knitwear and proactivity on the part of exhibitors who presented the season's novelties at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence from 28 to 30 June 2021.

Despite the uncertainty caused by the pandemic, the station was a dynamic venue with 78 exhibitors, 10 of whom came from abroad, and 7 on the digital platform - pitti connect - who presented their new products for the F/W 2022/23 season.

RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

Research plays a primary role in the world of fashion and has always been the focus of Pitti Immagine Filati, which in this edition was curated by Angelo Figus and Nicola Miller theme transformers, who wanted to highlight the new trends told in a climate of uncertainty and desire for change that characterises this edition.

In collaboration with Shima Seiki, the creative studio Kerned created a 3D animation of the finished garment, worn in a virtual fashion show by an animated avatar, starting with 30 cm of yarn.

The Feel the Yarn contest saw 27 young artists competing to create 2 knitted garments, using yarns offered by the same number of companies associated with the Yarn Promotion Consortium. The prize, won by Raquel de Carvalho: the chance to design her own capsule collection for the F/W 2022/23 season to be shown at the next edition.

A last novelty is the presentation of a garment entirely produced in fineness 21 on the FIRST 124 F21 machine by Shima Seiki Italia, using Exté by MIC, a coloured elastic spiral yarn, designed for comfortable stretch garments characterised by a new wearability.
