MAXI KNIT DRESS

NEW YARNS AND TECHNIQUES FOR KNITWEAR

The Pitti Immagine Filati, the 91st edition of which was held at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, after two years at the Stazione Leopolda, is an opportunity to seek out new yarns and processing techniques in the world of knitwear, which shape and inspire the creative process of designers and manufacturers.

MIC spa has once again supplied its yarns to Shima Seiki Italia, present at the fair with its machinery in operation and a capsule collection of 12 garments - conceived by Vittorio Branchizio, Art-Director of SSI - that presents the possibilities of this world, through the use of super-thin yarns, the mixing of yarns of different natures, the use of traditional and high-tech stitching, and wholegarment and garment production.

The use of MIC yarns - 100% polyester - in combination with traditional wools and yarns from the world of knitwear, not only lends a different hand from the wools, cottons and raw materials usual in this world, but also allows the creation of graphic effects, contrast and brightness out of the standard.

Experimentation and innovation are cornerstones of both SSI and MIC, whose long-standing collaboration provides new ideas and possibilities for the knitwear market.
 

KNITTED MAXI DRESS

With a view to experimentation and innovation in the production of knitwear, Vittorio Branchizio, SSI's art director, dedicated one item of the capsule collection to the combination of wool, polyester and elastic yarns to create a knitted dress. 

By using different colours in STR, the super-thin polyester MIC yarn, in combination with wool yarns, a contrast of brightness was created that gives the garment a silk-like hand and effect, alternating with the opacity typical of wool.

Furthermore, to make the garment softer in contact with the skin, the ELAN yarn was used, a textured MIC yarn, which, thanks to its continuous and voluminous burrs, creates a delicate layer in the contact areas.

The production time of the garment is 200' 00'.
