INNOVATION AND EXPERIMENTATION: YARNS IN KNITWEAR
Technological innovation, quality and the study of raw materials are one of the points of interest of the Pitti Immagine Filati fair, which returned this year to the Fortezza da Basso in Florence (FI) from 29.06 to 01.07 - the 91st edition.
Numerous spinning mills exhibited and presented their novelties in knitting yarns, but as usual there were also other essential realities for this world such as manufacturers of straight, circular and wholegarment knitting machines.
Among these confirmed its presence was Shima Seiki Italia, with the presentation of a new capsule collection - Overlapping Illusions - also this year conceived and supervised by Vittorio Branchizio, Art-director of SSI, who pushed the possibilities of Shima's knitting machines to the limit not only in technique - using inlays, textures and designs that are now recognised as the designer's own - but also in the mix of natural and technical materials.
This is precisely where MIC spa fits in again this year in its collaboration with SSI and VB by supplying technical yarns, whose colours, strength and quality, in combination with traditional knitting yarns, allow new visual effects of contrast and colour.
INLAY JUMPER AND TROUSERS
Vittorio Branchizio, in his study of materials and innovative production techniques, has developed for this collection - Overlapping Illusions - a 2-piece outfit, consisting of a Jumper and Trousers, produced using a mix of knitting techniques, including the Inverted Vanisé technique.
For production, the STR IP 18G machine was used, which is capable of using this technique on yarns with minimal fineness. For this, the pattern appearing on the knitwear was created using MIC's STR yarn: a high-strength 100% polyester yarn, characterised by maximum fineness, brilliance and stock service colour availability.
The production of the garment took 170' 00'' - jumper - and 186' 00'' - trousers.
