LIGHT EFFECT IN THE NEW DESIGN
Reflect-MIC becomes fashion accessory
LIGHT AND DESIGN
SSI designer and artistic director Vittorio Branchizio took a step further in stylistic and technical innovation, using MIC reflective yarn interwoven with other yarns with different properties of resistance, hand and compactness to produce a knitted garment on the SRY® 183 F.14 machine from Shima Seiki.
The result was an open, striped coat in shades of grey, in which certain bands light up when hit by light, creating a brilliant effect with great visual impact.
FASHION AND SAFETY COME TOGETHER WITH REFLECT-MIC
The sportswear industry has seen significant growth in recent years, hence the need to combine reflective performance with an aesthetic and functional aspect of great impact on a wide range of articles with high-visibility embroidery and bands:
- footwear
- jackets
- shoelaces
- leg warmers
- belts
To meet these and other needs, REFLECT-MIC has been developed. This is a round yarn covered with glass microspheres for a reflective effect that can be used for garments and embroidery with a reflective effect.
REFLECTIVE EFFECT IN CLOTHING
Retroreflection is the property of an object to reflect light in the same direction as it comes from, by means of refraction on two different lenses or surfaces. This allows the reflective object to remain 'hidden' until a beam of light strikes its surface, illuminating it.
This feature has been widely used to increase visibility in low light conditions in
• safety clothing
• work clothes
• sportswear
• sports footwear
